Embryo Technology Platform

The Embryo Technology Platform is equipped with advanced instruments, including stereomicroscopes, CO2 incubators, needle pullers, microforges, microinjectors, electroporators, and inverted fluorescence microscopes, and staffed by professional technical personnel. The platform offers comprehensive professional technical services covering biocleaning (bio-rederivation), rapid colony expansion, sperm cryopreservation and recovery (resuscitation), embryo cryopreservation and recovery, generation of genetically modified mice, breeding of core colonies, and breeding of genetically modified mice. It provides one-stop services for mouse embryo manipulation, such as in vitro fertilization (IVF), microinjection, and embryo transfer. Currently, the platform has a team of 4 members, including one Ph.D. and three bachelor’s degree holders.

Expertise and Responsibilities

Provide consultation, model generation, and technology development services for a wide range of animal genetic models, including transgenic, knockout, and knock-in models, with a particular focus on Cas9-mediated gene editing. Dedicated to applying and optimizing CRISPR/Cas9 technology to rapidly, efficiently, and cost-effectively generate gene-edited mice — including gene knockout, gene mutation, and transgenic mouse models — to recapitulate the onset, progression, and treatment of various human diseases, thereby establishing disease animal models for pathological and pharmacological research. Coordinate and oversee the daily operations of the Embryo Technology Platform, including genetic resource preservation such as bioreduction/cleaning, sperm cryopreservation and recovery, embryo cryopreservation and recovery, and rapid colony expansion.

Research Funding

Principal Investigator for one project each funded by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and the Shenzhen Municipal Science and Technology Innovation Commission. Participated in six projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and provincial-level grants.

Publications

Published 16 SCI-indexed papers in journals including Nature Immunology, Immunity, Protein & Cell, and Frontiers in Immunology. Among these, one paper with an impact factor (IF) >10, and three papers with an IF >20. Served as first author or corresponding author on six SCI publications.
